Tarot de Lana - Interactive Generative Project

Tarot De Lana

Proposal Title : Tarot De Lana
Date of Submission: 16/03/26

Authors
Lana Denina Cohen

Abstract

I am developing a generative tarot art project that combines online reading with on-chain minting but also a real physical tarot deck. The project explores tarot as a shared symbolic language and ritual, translated into an interactive digital art experience and a collectible body of work.

To realize the interactive and generative components of this project, I am requesting a grant for $5,000 (in ETH) from the RARI DAO to support the development of the custom reading system and generative deployment. This support would enable an artist-led, participatory drop that expands Rarible’s ecosystem beyond static collections into immersive generative experiences. By allowing users to mint personal readings alongside a complete collectible tarot deck, the project demonstrates new formats for community-engaged digital art and positions Rarible as a platform supporting innovative, ritual-based, and cross-media NFT practices. The drop would be a total 578 mintable NFTs with an expected total sale of 13.9 ETH, with 20% of the sales given back to RARI DAO.

The drop is structured in two interconnected parts. First, participants receive a three-card tarot reading through a custom website. The reading is drawn from a shared set of my 78 tarot cards deck and accompanied by a unique generative text interpretation written in my poetic, reflective style. Each reading is minted at an accessible price as a one-of-a-kind NFT, forming a living generative archive of how the tarot archetypes are activated across a community of users.

In parallel, I am creating a complete 78-card tarot deck painted by me, inspired by the traditional Tarot de Marseille while translated into my own visual language. These 78 cards will be released as individual 1/1 NFTs and also produced as a physical tarot deck, connecting the digital ritual experience to a tangible art object.

The project will be developed in partnership with Rarible, whose platform supports artist-led, generative, and interactive drops. Rarible enables both the minting of user readings and the release of the final tarot deck within a single coherent ecosystem, allowing collectors to engage with the work as both experience and artwork.

The intended outcome is a dual generative collection: a body of minted tarot readings created by participants and a 78-card tarot deck as collectible artworks, existing both on-chain and in physical form. Together, they create a shared symbolic system that bridges digital ritual, generative storytelling, and collectible objects.

Artist Track Record

Lana Denina Cohen is an early Web3 artist whose NFT practice has generated significant primary and secondary market activity across major platforms including OpenSea, Foundation and superrare. Since entering the NFT space in 2021, her projects have collectively generated over $400,000 USD+ in primary sales within the first year, establishing her as one of the pioneering women figurative painters in generative and collectible NFT portraiture.

Her work is recognized for centering women of color and Afro-diasporic identity within blockchain portrait traditions, bridging fine art painting with generative and tokenized distribution models.

Motivation

Many NFT drops remain primarily visual or transactional, with limited interactivity or meaningful participation beyond collecting. This creates an opportunity for Rarible to support projects that expand on-chain art into interactive, community-driven experiences that are both culturally resonant and artist-led.

My proposal introduces a generative tarot system where users actively participate by receiving and minting their own three-card reading, creating a shared on-chain archive shaped by community engagement. This participatory structure transforms minting into a creative act rather than a purely speculative one, strengthening the relationship between artists, collectors, and digital objects.

The project also demonstrates how Rarible can host hybrid drops that bridge digital and physical art. Alongside the generative readings, a complete 78-card tarot deck will be released as 1/1 artworks and produced as a physical deck, showing how on-chain works can extend into tangible cultural objects.

For the Rarible community, the benefits include:

  • a new interactive drop format that encourages participation
  • attraction of audiences interested in symbolism, generative art and fine art
  • a lasting on-chain archive created through collective activation
  • a high-quality 1/1 art collection linked to community experience

Supporting this proposal reinforces RaribleDAO’s role for innovative, meaningful, and artist-driven NFT projects, moving beyond speculation toward engaging cultural experiences on-chain.

Rationale

This project strongly aligns with the mission of the RARI ecosystem to empower creators, foster community participation, and expand meaningful on-chain cultural experiences. My project will bring artistic innovation and long-term value to the RARI’s ecosystem. The benefits of this project will lead to onboard new audiences, expand on-chain art formats, strengthen creator economy narratives (showcasing how artists can build participatory cultural systems)

Long-term, the project establishes a reusable framework for interactive NFT rituals and community-generated archives on Rarible. It demonstrates how the platform can host experiential, participatory art drops that deepen collector engagement and expand the cultural scope of the RARI ecosystem.

Key Terms

-Tarot : A symbolic card system originating in 15th-century Europe, traditionally used for storytelling, introspection, and divination.

-Tarot Reading : A structured interpretive practice in which tarot cards are drawn and arranged according to a spread (layout) to explore themes, questions, or emotional states.

-Generative collection : a body of artworks created through algorithmic or rule-based processes that combine predefined visual or conceptual traits to produce multiple unique outputs.

-1/1 nft : A unique digital artwork tokenized on a blockchain with no editions or duplicates.

The project centers on a generative tarot collection that merges divinatory symbolism with contemporary digital portraiture and poetic text. Each artwork will function as both a collectible NFT and a reflective tarot archetype.

The project is mainly made out of :

-78 artwork inspired from the tarot de marseille but in the art style of Lana Denina

  • a generative system creating a β€œ3 tarot cards pull” reading + its associated AI text .

  • Custom website powered by rarible protocol.

I like several parts of this grant proposal.

  • The 20% being shared back to the DAO, that would mean a little bit of profit when the collection sells out comparing it with the grant ask.
  • Rarible protocol being mentioned as the technology powering the website.
  • Real artist with proven track record

Not to much in to Tarot myself, but we all love cards!

What’s the timeframe on this, when are you planning to release this @lanadenina ?
