Q1 2025 RARI DAO Delegate Incentive Program Report + Payout Breakdown

gm RARI DAO fam,

This quarter, we launched the Delegate Incentive Program to reward delegates who participate in onchain voting, publish thoughtful rationale, and help shape the DAO’s future through proposal authorship. This report outlines who qualified, how points were calculated, and the exact payouts based on Q1 activity.

Eligibility Clarification

To qualify for rewards this quarter, delegates had to meet all of the following requirements:

Have at least 2,000 veRARI delegated at the start of the quarter
Maintain an active Delegate Thread on the governance forum
Vote on at least 60% of onchain proposals (3 out of 5)
Not receive direct compensation from the RARI Foundation for governance services

This follows the original RRC-40 proposal exactly, no mention was made of decaying voting power or fluctuating thresholds throughout the quarter.

The program is designed to reward participation, not penalize technical mechanics like veRARI decay, which are outside of a delegate’s control.

Grace periods were added to help more delegates qualify (e.g. for rationale submissions), but no retroactive slashing logic has been introduced.

Point System Overview

Rewards were distributed based on a total of 2,061 points earned across all eligible delegates. The Q1 reward pool was $30,000 in RARI, making the price per point:

$14.56 per point

Delegates could earn points through:

Onchain Voting

Max 100 points
Each vote = 20 points

Delegate Thread (Rationale Writing)

Max 100 points
Each rationale = 20 points (only for proposals they voted on)
Must include: vote decision, reasoning, and constructive feedback
Rationale must be posted before the grace period closed - April 30th, 2025

Proposal Author Bonus

200 bonus points total, split among authors of passed proposals
In Q1, RRC-40 was co-authored by sixty, bitblondy, cr1st0f
Each author received 67 bonus points (rounded up from 66.66)

Transparency Notes

The content of each rationale is hyperlinked to the original delegate thread (not copied in full here to keep the report clean).
Technical issue exceptions (e.g. coffee-crusher) were only granted when clearly documented and tied to onchain wallet errors or Tally malfunction.
Missed votes for reasons outside of technical issues were not eligible for points or exceptions.

Thanks @jarisjames for the detailed and transparent overview! I did not expect such a high result for the first quarter, but I think it’s a reasonable retroactive reward for the delegates that have been active in the last year(s) as well.
I’m very much looking forward for new delegates to join and diversify the pool!

Are you going to submit the payment in a separate proposal? How much is the total USD amount then, we used the RARI price averaging in the first quarter, so it will be less than the 30k in total right?

Quick clarification regarding the payout methodology: the amendment poll posted by @Sixty under the Seeking Clarification thread stated:

“To amend this, we will change the payment to the spot price of $RARI at the time of payment disbursal. This change will continue to be implemented for the remaining quarters under RRC-40.”

The key word here is “continue,” which makes it clear that this change starts with Q1 and carries forward. If the intention was for the spot price change to begin in Q2, it would have said “starting Q2” but it didn’t. No objections were raised during or after the poll, and the amendment stands as consensus-backed precedent.

As for the USD total: the final amount came to $30,010. The slight overage (vs. $30k flat) is due to rounding the proposal author bonus from 66.66 to 67 points each. Using decimals for point totals would technically reduce the total to $29,995.15, but introduces unnecessary complexity into the program. As the program admin, I opted for clean whole numbers to keep the report straightforward and user-friendly; the use of decimals would muddy the scoring system and raise new questions.

To answer your final question:

“Are you going to submit the payment in a separate proposal?”

The Quarterly Report is the proposal. It contains the full delegate-by-delegate breakdown, payout logic, and all qualifying wallet addresses. Everything needed for execution is already documented. The only remaining step is for @Jose_StableLab to submit the onchain proposal to finalize the Q1 disbursal.

Thanks @jarisjames for the clarification. My understanding was, this would be implemented for Q2 going forward. My suggestion would be, to put the amendments on-chain with the proposal then, otherwise technically the rules in RRC-40 would apply.

Also, to put this payment proposal on-chain, it should follow the proposal template and receive an RRC number, so would be great if that could be added.
